How to customise a t-shirt

Hi everyone ! Today, we want to share with you this new diy, we hope you'll like it !

  1. Requirements

  • Inkjet printer

  • Transfer paper

  • Printing substrate ( t-shirt, canvas bag, apron, cotton and poly-cotton fabrics )

  • Iron - 1400w or higher

  • Suitable flat surface ( Solid table, work top, floor or similar ( we used a kitchen chopping board ) - IRONING BOARD SHOULD'NT BE USED )

  • Baking paper

2. Printing

  • Set the transfer paper type on your printer to Plain paper

  • Ensure you choose the required resolution ( normal or medium )

  • Set your inkjet printer driver to MIRROR MODE / Flip horizontal / Transfer paper and print your image onto the paper ( if not available, mirror the image in the software you are using and print normally )

  • Print the image on the BLANK SIDE - not on the grid side

3. Preparation

  • Trim as much excess white areas from around and within the image. It is advisable to leave approx. 5mm white edge around the image if possible.

  • Prepare a FLAT solid surface on which to iron.

  • Switch on your iron and allow to heat up to full temperature for 4 minutes.

  • Don't use steam

4. Transferring the image

  • Place the t-shirt on the surface with the area onto which you are about to transfer facing up.

  • Iron the t-shirt without the image to warm it up a little and smooth out any creases ( about 20sec. )

  • Place the transfer paper with the image printed face down onto the t-shirt. You should have the printed grid facing you.

  • Start ironing the image roughly all over so it sticks to the fabric, then SYSTEMATICALLY make sure ALL AREAS of the image receive the same amount of heat by moving the iron constantly in small circles and coveringall the areas, especially the edges. Apply maximum firm and constant pressure to the iron.

  • Iron for about 3 minutes ( For images in A4 size - for smaller images you can shorten the time roughly in proportion : A4 --> 3min. ; A5 --> 90sec. ; A6 --> 45sec. )

5. Peeling

  • You can peel the image when it's hot or when it's cold.

  • Peeling cold is recommended to finish in matt for garments which are intenslively washed.

6. Fixing

  • After you have peeled the transfer paper and exposed the image, place the baking paper on the image and iron it for about 40 seconds for A4 and 20 seconds for A5 paper... Peel the paper while hot. The image is now fixed.

7. Washing

  • Wait 24h before washing the garment.

  • Wash in a washing machine using a FULL SPIN CYCLE.

  • It is recommended to pre-wash the printed garments if the first use is likely to be in extreme wet conditions.

  • It isn't suitable for hand washing or delicate cycles.
